The Book Of Doors | Carrot Cake

Cassie has been given a book that has the power to turn ANY door into an entrance into any door at any place in the world. Cassie quickly discovers that there are other books with supernatural abilities AND that there are also book hunters; those that would seek to use the powerful books for harm and those that wish to protect the books and humanity from evil.

I loved The Book of Doors! It is action packed and moves at a quick pace. A proper “I can’t put this down to eat” type of book. There are so many twists, that I truly couldn’t guess how the story would resolve. If this is your first science-fiction novel or one thousandth, I think you will love it!

What’s better than a good book and a slice of cake?
My three favorite things in the world: whisky, cakes and pastries, and books.
— The Book of Doors

Carrot Cake has been one of my favorites since childhood and often my requested birthday cake. The warm spices topped with cream cheese icing makes for a cake that is not overly sweet but delicately balanced and the perfect accompaniment to a good book.

This Carrot Cake Recipe from Nora Cooks is my go to carrot cake!

Quick Tip: To create a flowered petal effect on top of the cake, cover with a crumb coat and then pipe icing mounds all around the outside edge. Use the back of a small spoon to press down and drag inward. Repeat inside the first set of petals and then again until the cake top is filled.
