THe Night In Question | Hot Cross Buns

Florrie Butterfield is sunny, one-legged, eighty seven and investigating a suspicious accident. Florrie, or Butters (as her best friend called her), has a hunch that everything is not as it seems at Babbington Hall Assisted Living. As Florrie works to uncover the truth around the accident, she must also face her own past–secrets, adventures, and regrets.

One of the best parts of this story for me was the friendship between Florrie and her best friend Pinky, it is the type that, if you’re lucky, comes once or twice in a lifetime. This book started off a little slow for me but it was worth pushing through and I absolutely loved it by the end.

...at three thirty they wandered out of the school gates together discussing which type of bun was best: currant or iced? (Currant, they agreed.)
— Florrie on meeting her best friend, Pinky.

Why choose between an Iced bun or Currant bun when you can have both? After all, ‘tis the season for Hot Cross Buns.

Hot Cross Bun Recipe
