The Only One Left | Bloody Raspberry Popsicles

At Seventeen, Lenora Hope
Hung her sister with a rope
Stabbed her father with a knife
Took her mother’s happy life
“It wasn’t me”, Lenora said
But she’s the only one not dead
— The Only One Left

Kit, who grew up hearing this nursery rhyme in the schoolyard, is sent to care for the aging Lenora Hope — accused of murdering her family as a teenager. Lenora, now mute and unable to care for herself, is ready to tell all and uses a typewriter to reveal to Kit what transpired all those years ago. But strange things are still happening at Hope’s End and Kit doesn’t know who or what to believe.

I loved the atmosphere of a spooky mansion on a crumbling cliffside with not a single character that you can trust. I did find that the ending had a bit too many twists for me, to the point that I was rolling my eyes and struggled to suspend my disbelief. But it was still a highly enjoyable read. This was my first Riley Sager and I am already looking forward to the next!
