A Court of Silver Flames | Chocolate Raspberry Jam

This book started as a major downer for me. I already didn’t like Nesta, and her attitude for the first 30% had me thinking this was going to be a two star book. Then the friendships started to sprout, and the growth and humanity we saw in Nesta turned the whole book around.

The friendship between the broken girls - the ones who saw themselves as unlovable, but grew to love each other and help each other understand and believe that they were worth loving - was the best part of this book for me. It far exceeded the love story and excessive amount of spice (IMO).

I wish for us to have courage to go out into the world when we are ready, but to always be able to find our way back to each other.

This Chocolate Raspberry Jam would have been the perfect accompaniment to the sleepover where the woman turn from friends to family.

The House had stocked the table between the armchairs with piles of chocolate.. along with cookies and small finger cakes.” “Let me make a wish for all of us… for the friends who had become like sisters.

You may or may not have noticed that every recipe I have made for the ACOTAR series has contained chocolate. That is because any time Sarah J. Maas wants to add a bit of decadence to a scene, you can be sure there is an abundance of chocolate. She seems about as obsessed with it as I am, and I had to take advantage.

This loose set jam can also be used as a sauce. It can be drizzled on ice cream, slathered between cake layers, folded into whipped cream, and swirled into brownies. And for breakfast: spread onto sourdough or bagels with a thick layer of cream cheese, or stirred into yogurt with a sprinkling of chocolate granola. Perfect for a sleepover, brunch, or party shared with the family you have found along the way.

Chocolate Raspberry Jam

Makes about 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 oz. dark chocolate, finely chopped

Instructions

Place raspberries and sugar in a small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and press the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove most of the seeds.

Return the raspberry mixture to the saucepan. Cook the mixture until just below boiling (should be steamy). Remove from heat and add the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted. If the chocolate looks like it has split just whisk it occasionally as it cools until it looks smooth and uniform. Pour into jars and let cool to room temperature. Store, covered, in the fridge.

Notes

This loose set jam can also be used as a sauce. It can be drizzled on ice cream, slathered between cake layers, folded into whipped cream, and swirled into brownies. And for breakfast: spread it onto sourdough or bagels along with a thick layer of cream cheese, or stir it into yogurt.
