Ready or Not
Decker Breakfast Sandwiches
After a quick fling, a surprise pregnancy leaves Eve navigating her growing (and complicated) feelings for the baby’s father and her best friend’s brother. This may sound like a dramatic premise, but I promise you this is a feel good, humorous read. I loved the relationships between all of the characters in this book. They are so wholesome you can’t help but root for each of them. There isn’t a bad seed among them!
When you are needing something sweet and comforting with no real drama, this is the book for you.
In a moment of vulnerability Eve makes a very private recipe for Shep - a double-decker breakfast sandwich of eggs, “A smorgasbord of cheese and random junk from jars in my fridge door and, yes, pickles, and vegetarian deli “meat” straight from the fridge.”
I just had to recreate this sandwich in my own way and let me tell you, my kids were fighting over the leftovers. For the sauces I chose a homemade thousand island dressing (although you could use store-bought) and chili jam. For the pickles I chose pickled hot peppers because when I was pregnant with my first I craved alllll the spicy food. To take it over the top, I pan-fried it like a grilled cheese sandwich so the bread could get crispy and the cheese melty. This is the ideal bad-boy sandwich if I ever met one. It hits just right when you need a little bit of comfort - just like this book!
